Chemistry Joke

This is for all NUS Chemistry students, including the Year 1s.

Today at CHEM 171 Intermediate Organic Chemistry. First, some background. CHEM 171 is a upper-division course, i.e. meant for Year 3s and 4s.

Prof (as best as I can remember it):
"My job here is to convince you guys that there is more to chemistry than just organic chemistry, and that there is to more to chemistry than carbon and a tetrahedron. Some students freak out when they see that elements can bond to more than four atoms, for example six. This is a common geometry in inorganic chemistry, so take it easy. It's probably one of the hardest thing you'll have to accept in this course."

For the record, we chemist know about octahedral structure since like what? JC1? LOL... the Americans are seriously inorganically deprived...
